Teen Patti Muflis (Lowball) Rules — Lowest Hand Wins (2026)

Muflis — also called Lowball — is classic Teen Patti turned upside down: at showdown, the lowest hand wins. The cards you’d normally fold instantly become monsters, and the dream hands become disasters. It’s a favourite among experienced players because it forces you to unlearn every instinct.

How Muflis works

Deal, boot, blind vs seen betting, sideshow and show all follow the standard rules from our Teen Patti rules guide. The single twist is the ranking inversion at showdown:

Rank in MuflisHandIn classic Teen Patti
1 (best)High CardWeakest
2Pair5th
3Colour4th
4Sequence3rd
5Pure Sequence2nd
6 (worst)TrailStrongest

Within the same hand type, lower cards beat higher cards. So 5-3-2 of mixed suits — a hand you’d never play in the classic game — is the stuff of Muflis legend, while A-A-A is the worst hand you can hold.

Reading your hand in Muflis

When you see your cards, ask three questions:

  • Is it a High Card hand? No pair, no flush, no run — great start.
  • How low are the cards? 2, 3, 5 unsuited is the gold standard. Anything with all cards below 8 is strong.
  • Any accidental combinations? Watch for sneaky problems: 4-5-6 is a sequence (bad), three hearts is a colour (bad), two 9s is a pair (bad).

Aces count high in most Muflis rooms, making an Ace a liability rather than an asset — always check your table’s rule before the first deal.

Strategy tips

  • Small unconnected cards are gold. Mixed suits, no pairs, nothing consecutive — bet these hands hard.
  • Fold “pretty” hands fast. Face cards, suited cards and runs are traps. Don’t pay to see a showdown you’ll lose.
  • Blind play is powerful. Since most random hands are High Card hands, playing blind a round longer is statistically friendlier in Muflis than in the classic game.
  • Use the sideshow. If the previous seen player bet hesitantly, a ₹20–₹40 sideshow with a low hand often knocks them out cheaply.
  • Stay patient at showdown. New Muflis players routinely misread their own hands under pressure — double-check for hidden pairs and runs before paying for a show.

If you enjoy formats that change the maths, also try Teen Patti 999, where your card values must land closest to 999.

Frequently asked questions

The unsuited 2-3-5 is widely considered the best Muflis hand — the lowest cards possible without forming a sequence. On tables that simply invert rankings, the lowest High Card hand beats everything.
It loses. Muflis inverts the rankings, so a Trail — the strongest classic hand — becomes the weakest hand at the table.
No. Boot, blind and seen betting, sideshow and show all work exactly like classic Teen Patti. Only the hand comparison at showdown is inverted.
