Deals Rummy Rules — Fixed Deals & Chips Format Guide (2026)

Deals rummy is the most structured of the three cash formats: everyone plays the same fixed number of deals with an equal stack of chips, and whoever holds the most chips at the end wins the prize. No early eliminations, no endless grinding — a defined contest with a clear finish line.

How deals rummy works

  • Each player pays the entry fee — e.g. ₹20 each at a 4-player table builds an ₹80 prize pool (minus platform fee).
  • Everyone receives an identical chip stack (commonly 160 chips for 2 deals).
  • A fixed number of 13-card deals is played — usually 2 or 3 (standard rules apply; see our rummy rules guide).
  • After each deal, every loser pays the winner chips equal to their unmatched points (max 80).
  • After the final deal, the biggest chip stack takes the cash prize.

Example: in a 2-deal game you win deal one, collecting 45 + 60 + 30 = 135 chips from three opponents. Even if you lose 40 chips in deal two, your stack still leads — and the prize is yours.

The big draw: like pool, your maximum loss is the entry fee — but unlike pool, you’re guaranteed to play every deal.

Strategy for deals rummy

  • Deal one sets the tone. Winning the first deal of two puts you in command; opponents must beat you and overcome your chip lead.
  • Leading into the last deal? Play safe. Drop marginal hands and protect the stack — you only need to avoid a big swing, not win again.
  • Trailing? Maximise the gap. A small loss won’t help when you’re behind. Play for the win and don’t drop unless the hand is hopeless.
  • Mind the drop maths. Drops cost chips just like points (20 first turn, 40 middle), and with few deals each chip matters more than in pool.
  • Count opponents’ chips before every decision. Deals rummy is as much about the scoreboard as the cards.
